Nestled at the height of the mountains, Roger's Pass was once a part of Canada's rail lines and is now a key part of the Trans Canada Highway. Here the highway snakes between mountaintops, through tunnels and avalanche sheds, providing a connection between eastern and western Canada.
At the summit of the pass you'll find the discovery center, built in thr style of an avalanche shed, which tells the story of the history of the pass and the ongoing effort required to keep it safe and operational.
Picnickers here can find picnic tables and benches (some next to a howitzer used for triggering controlled avalanches), a large washroom facility, museum, concession stand, and plenty of parking. This is all surrounded by the rugged beauty of the mountains between Golden and Revelstoke.
