An oasis of calm on the edge of downtown, St. Patrick's Island Park, is a popular park for families owing to its playground, tobagan hill, and location right next to Calgary's zoo.
The park is on the edge of the bow river and is largely composed of wild habitat with walking trails laced throughout it. There are washrooms and a drinking fountain at the parking lot, along with a amphitheatre and a covered area with bistro tables.
There is a large cluster of picnic tables near the middle of the park with charcoal grills, but there are also picnic tables near the pond and playground.
